I find it is more expensive to buy vegan products.
I find it hard when I’m eating out, although this has been the best year ever for new vegan choices coming out, there is still a long way to go. I would love to be able to have more choice when I’m out and about.
I find the hardest thing is finding acceptance amongst friends and family who think you’ve gone mad.
Stupid questions from other people
The hardest thing about going vegan for me has been other people being unsupportive and a bit nasty at times. Being told I am “jumping on the bandwagon” “attention seeking” or “being awkward.” I have found that so many people are quick to judge and make comments about what I am eating. You cannot respond because you get called preachy or self-righteous. I tend never to respond and just shrug it off but really it is hard when people can be so petty.
It is hard when you’re invited to someone’s house, they’ve cooked something specially for you, and you discover it contains something animal. Then you have to somehow explain to them why you can’t eat it, without offending them. I’ve actually spat food into my napkin and disposed of it later rather than risk offending my host.
I do find it hard to locate vegan products that are available in each store and does not require a lot of preparation.
The expense – everything so much more expensive
The price of vegan products. It’s almost like you are penalised.
No problem really for me as my daughter runs a vegan cafe If anything I do miss a cup of tea with cows milk
Eating out, especially round someones house!
